Exterior Painting

Exterior painting built for the Gulf Coast

Paint fails on the Gulf Coast for three reasons: it went on over mildew, it went on over chalk and loose paint, or it was the wrong coating for the surface. We fix all three before we open a can.

How we do it

Exterior Painting across Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties

Every exterior starts with a pressure wash and a mildew treatment, because the humid, shaded side of a Pensacola house is always growing something. Then we scrape and sand loose paint, prime bare wood and chalky areas, replace failed caulk at the trim and windows, and seal hairline cracks in stucco.

The coating depends on the house. Wood lap siding, fiber-cement, stucco, brick and vinyl each want a different product, and a house on the water in Gulf Breeze or Navarre needs the UV and mildew resistance of a premium exterior line. We tell you which product we are using and why.

Then two coats, sprayed and back-rolled on the body so it gets into the texture, and brushed on the trim, shutters, doors and garage doors. If your shutters or columns are past saving, we build and fit new ones (see Shutters & Columns). We leave the house clean, the beds raked and the touch-up paint labelled.

Often booked with it: pressure washing and shutters & columns.

Is the outside due for a repaint?

Walk round the house and tick what you see. Three or more signs usually means it is time; one or two means a wash and a check-up.

Good to know

Exterior Painting: the questions we get asked

How long does an exterior paint job take?

A typical single-storey house takes three to five working days including the wash and prep. Two-storey homes, heavy peeling or a lot of trim can push it to a week or more. Rain can add days; we do not paint wet surfaces.

How long will the paint last?

With proper prep and a quality coating, eight to ten years inland and five to seven on the water in Gulf Breeze or Navarre. Dark colours on sun-facing walls fade sooner than light ones.

What time of year is best for exterior painting here?

Spring and fall are easiest, but we paint year-round. The limits are rain and dew: surfaces have to be dry, and in summer we start early and watch the afternoon storms.

Do you pressure wash before painting?

Always. Paint over mildew, salt or chalk will not stick, and that is the most common reason an exterior job fails early.

Can you paint brick or stucco?

Yes. Stucco gets its cracks sealed and a flexible coating; brick gets a masonry primer and a breathable finish. Both need to be fully dry before paint, which is why the wash comes first and the paint comes later.

Do you help with HOA colour approvals?

Yes. We can work from your HOA's approved palette and give you the colour names and codes to submit before we start.
